AIR program The Bamboo Curtain Studio (BCS) in Taiwan aims to promote cross-cultural exchanges by providing a meeting point for visitors from national and international arts-related fields, for short visits or specific projects. Our studio is situated along the bicycle path of the Tamsui riverbank. It is within walking distance to the subway stop for the 30 minute commute to downtown Taipei. Our studio is a reused farm complex of 2,645 sq meter / 28,467 sq ft) with three artists-in-residency spaces, exhibition spaces, a multi functional performance space, an outdoor performance stage, a research and exchange center, a community kitchen, plus an outdoor plaza and gardens. The Residency Program
After 12 years, we were awarded a grant for renovation by our Council for Cultural Affaires. We now have capacity to welcome national and international artists, curators, and researchers. We’ll help the visiting guests connect to resources, incubate their projects, experiment on their ideas, and show their final experimental works on / off-site. We can also further help to contact other related Asian culture spaces and international networks. We mainly custom-design the residency on an individual basis, by introducing the visiting artists to important exhibitions, performances, and to join in art community and culture events such as: open studios, related group shows / discussions, and for workshops with local schools and communities. All three studios are fully furnished with air-conditioning, basic working facilities and shared office support staff. The working studio is 300USD a week, and the guest room is 150USD weekly. BCS is an important cultural exchange hub in Asia
